Now that there are cases of physical copies of FF XVI accidentally being shipped out early the game developers are asking for those that receive a copy of the game early to be considerate to those who will have to wait until the official release date to play their copy by not spoiling the game online.

If you did receive a copy of the game early, I would like to echo this sentiment. You did nothing wrong and I can understand the desire to talk about what you’re playing but please don’t ruin the experience for others. I hope you enjoy it and I’ll be diving in as soon as I can next weekend.

Anybody see anything online spoiling the game or has the community stayed respectful so far?

People who purposefully spoil others are very sad and pathetic people.

Personally, I don’t care if I see them, but if I am unable to post about it without adding a spoiler warning then I simply won’t. For me knowing a thing does not spoil experiencing said thing, but I am also not going go online and actively start looking ahead, there is a definite benefit in the unknown.

I understand the excitement individuals can have when they get there hands on something they were waiting for and the desire to talk with others that have the same passion but I also just don’t agree with cases like this where they know anything they post would be a spoiler because the general community cannot legally get ahold of the game. Any posting in this week will literally be spoiling the experience for others and it’s just disrespectful to those that are patiently waiting and don’t want to know anything until they see it in game.

I’m fine if someone spoiler tags it. There are people who don’t want to play or don’t care about spoilers and would like to know now. Unmarked spoilers are terrible.

I agree that spoilers are fine as long as tags are used but I still personally would argue to wait until the release day before any discussion of the official game, spoiler or not, be dropped on the web. That’s more of a respect for the community waiting because from past experience, once the spoiler is dropped (with or without the tag) someone will pick it up and drop it everywhere else online and ruin it for others.
