A woman and her dog were swept away by flash flooding that suddenly surged through a Utah slot canyon. They were saved after the SOS emergency feature on her iPhone notified rescuers.::The woman heard flash flooding coming while in Utah’s Mary Jane Canyon and tried to reach higher ground with her dog, but the sand bank was away.
Always listen to the warnings in Utah. A rain storm fifty miles away can flash flood these slot canyons. Glad she made it out
Same thing in Arizona and, I assume, New Mexico.
Growing up in the former you get told a million times to beware of flash floods and don’t cross water running in an arroyo or dip or whatever because who knows how deep it is.
