Like what’s their official reason for existing as a business? “We give people fake phone numbers to trick them into paying us money on free calls” doesn’t sound like a legit business plan.

What are these “Call Connection Services” actually offering? Like what’s their official reason for existing as a business?

Back in the day it made sense, before internet existed. You’d call a number and say “connect me to HMRC”. Now it’s just a leftover
