Social media seems to be laughing its ass off about this tragedy, is it because the folks at burning man are perceived as frivolous hippies or something? Everyone I’ve ever met who was a regular burning man attendee has been a solid human being with strong morals, personally and financially responsible, a career. Upstanding members of society for sure. I guess all some people know is the sensationalized drugs and sex. A person died. This is a tragedy for an event that brings positivity into the world. Kind of annoyed.

You’re asking “is the population of burning man marginalized in the context of burning Man”.

No, once you are referring to the entirety of a defined population, that group is not a margin, but the entire population.

Ok I understand the context of your original message now. It was completely nonsensical.

Nope, you clearly didn’t understand my original comment and then confused yourself by largely ignoring my original comment and conflating it with your own incorrect assumptions.

And yet you have yet to provide a coherent explanation for your original post 🙄

If you mean my concise, original reply to the OP, you seem to be the only one who doesn’t understand it.

Do you know what part of my comment you need explained?

How does “there are marginalized parts of society you’re allowed to berate” relate to the original question about burning man. I doubt I am the only one having trouble with the statement as that post is sitting at a -7, I’m just the only one morbidly curious enough to engage with you about it.

To me that seems like a statement that degenerates the term marginalized to the point that the word becomes meaningless.

You not understanding the word “marginalized” does not make the word meaningless.

The original question was why people are so giddy about the flooding that happened at Burning Man.

My answer that only you appear to be confused about can be expanded:

The entire burning man community is a marginalized community within the United States because they act contrary to American conservative social cues and structures but don’t have significant counterbalanced social power to defend themselves, making it a very safe target for bullies.

So even though there was a dangerous tragedy affecting tens of thousands of people and someone actually died, the worst parts of society have and are going to bully and demean this community because they are “weird” and can not or will not defend themselves in a way the bullies understand.

Marginalized people are poor folk who live in hunger in a world where we are fully capable of feeding them, all in the name of capitalist profits. Marginalized people are women seeking abortion care in underground clinics because it’s easier to oppress them once they are trying to take care of a child. Fuck man I could go on and on about ACTUAL Marginalized groups. Immigrant communities whose labor is exploited and then vilified in the media.

It’s appalling you would use the term in regards to a bunch of rich people cosplaying as bohemian hippies to go party in the desert. You’re understanding of who goes to BM is two decades outdated. Thanks for the honest reply though that shit is too funny, gonna try to get it to the front page.

Aw, you’ll make it, you’re clearly a front page personality.

At least I’ve taught you the definition of the word “marginalized”, I guess that’s something.

One step at a time, right?
