I don’t think you’re listening to the testimony, reading the transcript, or watching any of the new videos (or reading the articles, really.) The OPS knew they were coming but didn’t realize how many locals were going to throw in with the protesters. They assumed that it was going to be just another protest that would evaporate on Monday. They were unprepared for how many people would be there and just how lawless and uncooperative they would be.
The Toronto police reacted the way they did because they saw what happened in Ottawa.
No, I’ve been paying attention. And I paid very close attention when it was all happening. I think their excuse is bullshit. Too many of their members were inclined to agree with the besiegers and didn’t do their job as a result.

The world isn’t black and white and not all cops lie. Their testimony lines up with what happened in Ottawa and with the findings of the commission so that lends credibility to what they are saying. There were a couple of thousand cops on the ground who did a professional job and cleared the occupiers with no injuries or deaths.
The issue isn’t that “there are a few bad apples” but half of the basket is rotten to the core. Until the police and systems that regulate police are completely overhauled, we the citizens should not trust the police. The number of “bad apples” is too high to allow the citizens to have confidence in law enforcement.
If three people came up to you and told you a slightly different story but you know one of them is lying. With that risk, do you think it is safe to bother to believe any of them? Even worse is that the other two might be going along with the lie to keep their jobs or not be ostracized by their colleges.

They don’t deserve the trust. I never said all cops always lie. Stop choosing to miss the point of what I said.
