Protestors occupied Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) office on Monday demanding that lower chamber of Congress reauthorize federal spending on the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
“Pass PEPFAR now, McCarthy! Pass PEPFAR now, McCarthy!” chanted the protestors before eventually being arrested by members of the Capitol Police.
Now watch as Republicans insist that these protesters are just as bad as the Jan 6 protestors, and should be brought up on insurrection and sedition charges…
No, they’ll insist that that January 6th people were peaceful tourists who should all be freed while these people are terrorists who deserve the death penalty.
Of course, the occupation of a Congressional office is wrong (and particularly stupid after 1/6) and these people should face appropriate charges and (assuming convictions) prison time. That said, the 1/6 people were committing much worse crimes.
…Why is it that these hyper-partisan people always think it’s okay if they do it, but not others? I want any and all people who break laws to be arrested/tried. I don’t care what “side” they are on.

They won’t though. Because if they took that stance, it means they’re admitting J6 was an insurrection. Either way it’s pointless to argue about these “what ifs”…
I think you underestimate Republican malarkey.
Listen here cornpop
Agreed. Whatever laws they may be breaking, charge them. If people want to protest, go for it. But people should be fully aware by now that protesting inside of the capital is not the place.
How many police officers did these protestors kill?
Do you think I’m excusing this in any way or something? You just looking for a reason to take offense to my comment?
buddy you’re clearly drawing an equivalence between these things, and if they’re equivalent I expect 6 police to be dead
You need better reading comprehension.
