Especially if that bike lane is about 50 cm marked with a line of paint.

if it’s a metre, protected by a curb, ideally with a row of parked cars between them and moving cars as well, then they’ll take it like it’s the best thing to happen to the world since the discovery of fire.

Until suddenly there’s a road sign completely blocking the lane. Or idiots getting into/out of parked cars not understanding its’s still an active lane and not a place to hang out for a conversation or blindly open your car door into. Or the city doesn’t put in the money+effort to run smaller street sweepers down the lanes frequently do they’re always full of shit the big street sweepers knocked out of the cars lane. Or you just get hit by a fucking car since people parked their stupid massive trucks along the road impossible to see anything coming down the bike lane. And if you manage to avoid all the obstacles you’ll still get honked at for “not using the fucking bike lane” when you eventually need to make a left turn.

      Turns out infrastructure is hard.
