At least for me, the economical part isn’t the problem but the authoritarian part is, which is why for me personally “fuck tankies” is more accurate than “fuck commies”
What you’ll find if you’re paying attention is that a lot of people mean “fuck lefties” when they say “fuck tankies” but want to hide behind bashing a permissible strawman. The person you’re replying to is at least honest.
