The scariest part to me about the Antarctica heating - and heat spikes throughout the southern hemisphere - is: it was fucking winter down there. That’s when the sheets are supposed to grow. I think the northern hemisphere saw the prelude, a horrible preview of what we’re going to see all over the southern hemisphere in the next six months, and it’s going to be terrifying. And then it will be our turn again.

Yup. But don’t worry, the GOP is convinced there’s no danger, we’ll be fine.

        we’re so fucked.

Heard on Sydney radio the other day that they’ve already declared El Nino for down here.

Yep, the conditions were met just recently. Forecasts and weather are already showing pretty warm temps.

Really wild that a pandemic and the year where you can no longer ignore climate change cuz it’s literally already happened would basically be right next to each other or at least within a 3 year window.

Completely puts the nail in the coffin of Millennial etc and Boomer relations IMO, where Millrnnials, zoomers etc are well and truly cursed to watch an age crumble into the next out of sheer greed and incompetence. Old enough to remember how things could have been and yet have been mostly powerless to stop it and young enough to see it disappear.

I still contend it was 2008 that sealed our fate.

Bailing out the banks was the final straw.

We should have let them fail, and all the industries they subsidize with it. We should have faced the strife, buckled down and persevered ourselves. But no. We bailed out fucking banks.
