I am theoretically switching over from Reddit to Lemmy. Finding myself spending more time on Lemmy than on Reddit. Maybe it’s because I am limited to using the desktop and can’t aimlessly browse Reddit on my iPhone. Of late, the only subreddits I cared for were on sports and their matchday threads and r/watches. I found myself aimlessly browsing through r/AskReddit and asking and answering pointless questions.
This is nice. I may steal it. To be honest, Reddit started dying for me when awards came out.
has reddit done anything in the past 5 years but become worse?
I guess not… I stopped paying attention to new features after the awards. Reddit needed to stay the same and focus on the communities. I don’t really like the “pump and dump” model. Just stay the same, and keep doing what you’re good at. Every platform copies the next and becomes the same, meaningless pool on the internet.
It’s not my original idea I stole it too lol it’s “our” word now muahaha
So far I’m loving it. Trying to engage more here than I did on Reddit - hopefully it pans out.
I think the trick is to be way more active than we were on reddit. I’ve been trying to post more in the communities I’m on here. Gotta generate content!
I agree. I want to keep replying here but I feel like I may overdo it. Gotta be good content - not just for the sake of adding content ;P
For sure. I like that the communities I follow on here are small enough that a simple “what’s up guys” is quality content and helps give a little content for folks to scroll through.
