minus-square@ArbiterXerolink68•1 year agoI’m showing my age here, but that’s likely dvi, and not serial. 9pin is much smaller and 25pin is significantly larger. But despite my pedantic statement, the joke still stands. Well played.

minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish2•1 year agoDoes that mean my stash of IBM MicroDrives are finally going to be worth something?
minus-squareRhaedaslinkfedilink27•1 year agoSame here, although I thought VGA. Dealt with too many parallel cables in the past and that didn’t look wide enough.

minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilink17•edit-21 year agoDVI-D uses TMDS, which is a serial protocol. So if you want to be really pedantic you could call it a serial port even though it’s not RS232. DVI-A also transmits metadata over a serial connection, but the video signal is parallel analog.
minus-squareCaptain Aggravatedlinkfedilink9•edit-21 year agoYeah it’s clearly a D-Sub connector, I’ll allow the meme, the joke’s funny.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilink7•1 year agoLooks a heck of a lot like the RS-485 serial cable I’ve got on my desk right now. Scale is hard to tell, not sure how big that bowl is.

Oh christ, DVI is old now.

Fair! Neat fact!

I thought the same when I saw it. That’s not a DB-9. Harumph!
