Thats the thing about news: anything you see in the news is stuff that doesn’t happen. If it happens all the time, or even just reasonably frequently, it’s just by definition not news, and nobody is going to talk about it, seek it out, or pay any attention to it.
I agree with that. I’ve seen a few sources point out that disconnect and they usually point out that both suck and recognize the novelty of the submarine. It’s just wild that one of the worst migrant tragedies has received practically no coverage.

Absolutely. Unfortunately our news cycle is entirely based on what gets clicks and makes money. So they find the story that gets those and focus on it totally instead of sharing that spotlight with things that can be just as important, if not more. Frustrating

The number of people who died was newsworthy. The fact people have become so desensitized to migrant deaths is just more reason to cover it.
I agree but surely we can talk about that without desensitizing ourselves to another group of people. Fuck celebrating someone else’s suffering
