I’ve got the Samsung Odyssey G65B 32". Upgraded from a 165Hz IPS AOC AG271QG. So far so good. It’s definitely much faster response time and it’s so smooth as long as I can maintain the FPS high. Though mainly the colors and contrast stand out the most. I was worried about QC issues but did not notice anything out of whack yet. The only annoying thing which I’ll probably never use is the built in Tizen OS to make it work more like a TV. I think that’s just unnecessary. I did not even bother to connect it to network.
Thanks! Actually I had to not take a picture of whole table as there is quite a monitor mess going on because this new one messed up my monitor arm mounting expectations so I have quite a few things to fix to have it all set up nicely because my 3rd monitor right now has no power because of it. I really like the orange as well as it’s pleasing to my eyes, the Razer charging dock was set to orange as well but I don’t use Synapse and Open RGB sometimes bugs out on me.
I was also thinking about getting an OLED… more specifically a WOLED either from ASUS or CORSAIR but after contemplating I decided against it as it would be just waaaaay too much hassle. I don’t really want to care about how I use my screen and I tend to run a LOT of static content so I would probably and unavoidably experienced burn in which I just can’t justify as a risk at that price point.
The jump from 60Hz to previously 165Hz was really something great. Now the jump is basically not noticeable unless I can maintain stable 240FPS but it’s smoother a bit. I think though that most of the improvements I perceive are from the much faster pixel response times. I only played FFXIV and Battlebit Remastered so can’t really base my opinion too much yet, I’ll have to play more FPS games to evaluate.
I had to remember to check the OSD controls to enable 240hz.
Works amazing on Linux with my Sapphire Nitro+ 7900XTX.
Elite Dangerous Odyssey and Diablo IV are my current jams. Full fame amazing-ness.
Upgraded from my 144hz 1440p IPS LED Gigabit and this is really way better for better blacks/space games for certain.
I am also considering switching to Linux. I’m still tinkering with overclocking though so for now I’ll stay on Windows but otherwise there’s not really any reason.
Also I’ve noticed I have a stuck blue subpixel in the bottom right corner :( I noticed it when the whole screen went black. It’s otherwise not visible over other colours (except red) unless I lean really close in. But on black it’s visible from normal sitting position. Normally there’s a task bar over it so that’s why I didn’t notice sooner.
I was going to say, you need a bit of cable management back there. :)
Yeah OLED does have it’s own issues. The one I bought and put a review on here about is pretty good though. I do have static content, but I also have a 3 year warranty that came with it. 🤷♂️ I like that confidence, and the quality that comes with it.
A bit of cable management is an understatement. Half of the dreaded cables are barely long enough to reach from PC and UPS so I can’t reroute them and the other half is so long that I have them cover floor behind PC like a snake nest.
Get custom cables, zippable wire covers, and lots of velcro. That’s what I did and it’s SO helpful.
Will do in time. It honestly does not matter to me that much it’s just more convenient to clean around once you have it tidied up. So in my priority list it’s somewhere in the middle right now.
