If it blocks your IP, wouldn’t everyone who came to your house get banned as long as they’re using your Wi-Fi?
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilink8•1 year agoMaybe yours does, but that’s not universal in the slightest
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilink-2•edit-21 year agoI was talking about ipv4 addresses. There is no interner service provider that I’m aware of that gives non-business customers static ipv4 addresses.
minus-squareTacolinkfedilinkEnglish6•edit-21 year agoI have a shitty $30 spectrum plan in NY and my IP hasn’t changed in 2 years. From what I understand, they don’t reserve it, but they don’t change it either
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilink3•1 year agoI had 65.25.55.55 for over two years, even after multiple router reboots. It took a modem upgrade to lose me my address. That the address is dynamic does not imply it changes every 24 hours.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilink1•1 year agoDidnt realize that they dont do this everywhere.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilink3•1 year agoDynamic yes, objecting to 24h. Many places keep the same dynamic address for months or years
minus-square@JonnyRobbielink1•1 year agoIt’s not that expensive to buy a premium static IP from ISPs. It’s like 10% on top of a usual monthly rate, so not a terribly expensive one.
