For sure, i live in canada, which has socilistic institutions (national healthcare, social security, ect)
I’m a huge fan of some socialism, but do NOT want to see full communism.

I think the issue is somehow socialist institutions have gotten a bad name/are thought to be unnatural.

They don’t need to be owned or employed by the government for it to be socialized. You’re confusing communism with socialism.

Thats… the definition of a socialistic institute. Collective healthcare is socialistic, while for profit is capitalistic.
By your definition, the USSR was capitalistic, since they paid for everything through their taxes.
