No it doesn’t. You can easily tell which dtufent have the nice, new uniforms and which have the ill fitting hand-me-downs. Besides, status is not just conveyed by clothing. It’s also accessories, phones, etc.
If the dress code is gonna be a problem, just make everyone wear a school uniform and be done with it.

No, they’re not. You generally can’t buy then second hand. I’ve never seen uniforms at a resale store.
Huh? Second hand uniform sales are massive in the UK. Every school has one. Maybe not in the states? Don’t know why…
It was definitely a thing where I worked in Los Angeles county.
Both of those points do not match the experience I had.
