On Tuesday, Oct. 10, the office of Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares ® sent a letter to Virginia Voter Assistance, which is a project of the right-wing organization Look Ahead America, warning it to “immediately cease and desist” from sending false and misleading information to voters in Virginia.

Some of the materials inaccurately warned voters that they could lose Social Security benefits, unemployment benefits, child custody rights and more if they did not vote. The election-related materials also falsely claimed that “[g]etting an absentee ballot… may prevent the loss of government benefits, tax credits, and seizure of your personal assets.”

This isn’t political speech. This is dishonest bullshit.

The account you’re replying to was created an hour ago and that is the only comment in their history. Don’t feed the trolls.

Growing up, I heard the “If you don’t vote, you’ll lose social security” At the time, I never took this to be a law that said if you do not vote, you specifically will have your check withheld. I took it to mean, if you do not get out and vote, the evil opposing party is going to change the law and social security is going be destroyed for everyone

I’m not seeing any evidence this is what they meant, so stop trying to play devil’s advocate. They even doubled down saying they told the absolute truth.

Conservatives are the ones trying to reduce benefits and privatize social security, so I’m not sure how that could be the message.
