      I wrote it that way at first, then changed it to “jury-rigged” after looking it up and reading this.

        Huh, weird! My takeaway is: “Jury-rigged is the best choice when the makeshift nature of the effort is to be emphasized rather than a shoddiness that results” for anyone’s TLDR

      Pretty sure it’s both, given that both uses are extremely common and that be how language works.
