Rather than demand an immediate ceasefire, the Biden administration is actively working to further provide cover for Israeli atrocities in Gaza

IIRC the white house press secretary recently said calling for a ceasefire is disgraceful and repugnant.

Imagine socking someone in the mouth and then shouting “timeout!”

Yeah except after they sock you, you then go to their house and execute their entire family while they beg you to stop before you ultimately torture and kill them too. That’s what is happening here. Collective punishment is the height of human evil, and fuck you for attempting to justify that with your low brow analogy.

You’ve made the analogy pointless now.

You forgot to mention the initial attack also killed your family and the person attacking you likes to shoot rockets from their own schools and hospitals.

What happens to schools and hospitals when enemy combatants attack you from them? They become valid targets.

There’s this one simple trick to avoid that. Don’t use your own citizens as meat shields.

I wish I could snap my fingers and keep all non combatants safe but it’s not possible. Hamas could help by not doing the shit they do though.

This is an old conflict. There is no analogy of who threw the first punch anymore, and there is no wrong time for peace talks, if they can be had in good faith.

              But, they can’t.

What about now after thousands of people have been killed in bombings, is now a good time to call timeout or do we wait another round?

A ceasefire goes both ways, and it stops more innocent people from dying on any side. This weird “oh they should be able to get some revenge” line is so fucking stupid and it’s surprising that officials and news anchors are repeating it.

Imagine growing up in a wasteland, reaching adulthood and deciding to save everyone.

The average age in Gaza is between 18 and 24. The past doesn’t exist to them. They just want to live free lives. Just like the rest of us.

EDIT: Forgive me stranger, I don’t know you but I’m about to go off on this because it’s such a fucking stupid take.

America should be calling for a ceasefire. And America didn’t sock anyone in the mouth (recently). Hamas did. And it was disgusting. No one should excuse shooting up a music festival. Jesus Christ . . .

At face value, your metaphor is twisted. Hamas isn’t calling for a “timeout”, but everyone outside should. Before this spills over!!

What you SHOULD imagine is empathy. Imagine your house being bombed because your asshole neighbor shot up a music festival. Imagine your water stops running. Imagine having a 3 hour notice before your house turns to rubble. Imagine being in a hospital, visiting your father who got bombed and then that hospital gets bombed. Imagine if the whole world started thinking you and your asshole neighbor bomber were the same person!

Imagine living with your head under a rock for so long, that you think this conflict began with the recent Hamas terror attack. RESEARCH!!
