I think people are not realizing that common users don’t want to deal with defederated communitities. If a normal user is looking for a community like programming humor, I don’t want to have to figure out which of 10 different instances to post in. I don’t want 10 slightly different versions with mostly the same posts, but 10 different comment sections.
