I don’t add anything to it (not even sure I could) but I still use my Zune every now and then.

A real shame. The first generation product was such a piece of crap and the product name itself was so incredibly bad that by the time the Zune HD, which was better than any competing product in just every every way, came out, the damage to the brand was irreparable.

There was no damage to the brand. The brand itself was new. They just killed it without any further investment like Microsoft does with everything. Apple was just miles ahead in hardware and made ZuneHD look ancient. MS had no legs in hardware until overpriced Surface products came around.

I owned a brown Zune just like shown in Guardians Of The Galaxy. The thing was great. It’s just that the V1 companion software was bad. They fixed that with V2 which it’s design language ironically got copied to Windows without any credit. Unfortunately, the charge port died before it did.

I like to hate on M$ as much as the next lemmy nerd but honestly they made a lot of great hardware for many years. The M2000 is still my favorite mouse and my daily driver for years. They’ve also made the best console controllers for years and the competition isn’t even close there.

I loved my natural elite keyboard. It died about 5 years ago, but it was a ps2 device. So it had a good run.

It’s a thing as I have understood it, yes.
