While sharing something, if you need to move away from the person you’re sharing files with, this will allow you to switch to uploading to the cloud temporarily, and the other guy will download from there.
This is only if you’re not near each other.

Serious question, why would I need temporary cloud storage?
Apparently as a temporary place to backup stuff in the event of something like phone maintenance.
But you should have a permanent cloud backup of anything important anyway. I don’t get the purpose of this either.
