Newly-elected Speaker Mike Johnson gave Americans a glimpse of his "worldview" on Thursday night while fielding a question about homophobic remarks he made.
I think what we can take from such a statement is that his worldview is a disparate collection of stories, that he desperately tries to reconcile with some sort of overarching narrative, but fails, and so gives idiotic platitudes like “the Bible is my worldview” to cover for his lack of curiosity necessary for having a grounded epistemology.
IF he reads his bible then he should know that there is almost unlimited room for interpreting most of its contents.
Does he not know how many different Christian denominations there are in the US? And that those exist because of theological differences?
I am concerned about the lack of depth he is demonstrating. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised.
ETA: It IS the house after all. My expectations should be lower, right?
