Putin wouldn’t be stupid enough to directly attack a NATO country… right? He can’t possibly see an upside to that

Didn’t everybody think the same thing before he invaded Ukraine?

Not everyone. But hey, those warmongering Americans were just at it again, trying to stir up trouble. In fairness, the US lost a fuck-ton of credibility over Iraq. But, they really did see this one coming.

Also that whole leaving-Afghanistan mess of August 2021 was fresh in everyone’s mind.

Attacking Ukraine wasn’t as clear cut and he knew NATO wouldn’t go to war over it. Attacking a NATO country directly isn’t something our drunk Russian friends would do even though they like to rattle sabres over it. Putin has sacrificed a quarter of a million of his county’s best young men; he’s scraping the barrel now for more to turn into hamburger. In two generations those quarter of a million would have been over a million young workers in his economy. Gone. Most of his military equipment is destroyed too. He’s got nothing and he knows it. A war with NATO would be the end of Russia.

I kind of hope he would do it, just so we could start directly helping in the war effort and possibly start dealing with all these Russian sympathizers here at home, but if he attacks a NATO country it’s going to be with nukes and we’re pretty much all fucked at that point.

You can read about russian 90s too, and that’s what may happen again to us soon. This ‘country as a civilization’ would get nearly wiped out in a couple of generations, thanks to the most prominent supporter of this fascist idea.

I’m doubtful the war with NATO is probable too. Local population isn’t ready for it, they are completely occupied with this one war at their hand now. Rising them stakes to that level would not work for this administration. Even the deepest vatniks won’t be sure they can endure it.

Yet, I won’t be surprised of these stupid moves. And something in me wants to escalate this thing to the point it finally ends.

There’s a big difference invading another country and attacking a NATO country though
