I wanted to get a pulse check on how new members are finding the general experience/website. Is it more confusing than Reddit or are you finding the instance system a better way of doing things as it can give you more freedom of where you choose to create an account?

I’m a new user myself but have found the experience to remind me of Reddit back in the day, lol. It’s definitely giving me old-school yet modern vibes and it’s great to see something that isn’t Reddit growing in popularity!

The webapp Is only fine on desktop. On Android I’m having to use Jerboa which works and does its job but still has an extremely outdated and unpolished user experience

Jerboa kind of sucks in that you can’t fold comment chains. Very annoying. I should probably contribute rather than complaining though lol.

Thanks for the visual example. I was also looking for this functionality and was about to ask, but I just figured it out.

For anyone confused, you tap and hold down on the top part of a comment next to the commenter’s name and it should collapse that chain.

Personally I would prefer just tapping on the colored lines on the left side, at least that’s what I’m used to.

Jerboa reminds me of my favorite Reddit app, Boost for Reddit. I think it has a nice UI…

On android, you can use Firefox or similar to save the site you’re using. Go to its homepage and click the dot menu and hit ‘install’ and it’ll put Lemmy as a web page on your home screen. Works better than you think and can also be done on iOS
