    <> is not the symbol for inequality, either (originating from mathematics) or != (originating from programming) are.

    <> generally imply “brackets” when used as a pair, but without any content in between them can be taken to mean “roughly interchangeable”

    What you write reads as: “the Israel government is roughly interchangeable with Judaism” which seems to be the opposite of what you wanted to say.
