Outside of that, it would make sense… Like I see them announcing it around next spring with demos around the usual E3 dates and release before the holidays.
So before that they would want to sell the OLED new models during this holidays, knowing a new one is coming doesn’t help with that.
Companies cannot lie in official investor relations statements. I don’t think they face the same level of scrutiny for media comments about unannounced future plans.
Even then, there are many ways that a leak can be factual but technically untrue. Maybe show off the Switch 2 prototype at the conference, we swung by their headquarters after the conference concluded or showed off the prototype in a hotel room across the street from the conference.
