I don’t have much expertise, but reading the article felt poorly based. The fact that some people held some beliefs and were sympathetic to some fascist clauses is not a proof that it was rooted there.

That drive for consumption that you describe is part of the fascist problem. You’re not even articulating it, you are just assuming that it must happen. That lebensraum for your tongue. Instead of understanding that consumption has to be reduced.
