Chicago alt-rock band Smashing Pumpkins third, double album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness hits US#1 & is an international top-10.

Following albums Adore (1998) and Machina/The Machines of God (2000) enjoy a similar success … and the band breaks up.

    Seeing this posted as “classic rock” is making me feel some kind of way. But it’s a fantastic album nontheless.

      I don’t care that it technically qualifies I don’t think the moniker “classic rock” fits with any music produced during the 90s, we need a new term for old alt rock.
