I’m interested in reading this anthology. I’ll have to look for it or order it at my local bookstore. I feel similarly to the author regarding cancel culture, I feel a bit uneasy with throwing the baby out with the bath water, but I know that bad ideas have to be dealt with and sometimes it takes a boycott/cancelling. I just don’t want to get caught up in an unthinking zeitgeist where is reactionary cancelling. I want to be careful that I’m doing things for the right reason.
Cancel culture is worth having its own Fedi community, the problem it would be reported to oblivion and any instance that hosted it likely defederated. I would start one just for the lulz, but social leprosy is a likely outcome and I’m not wealthy enough to manage that.
While I agree completely with your sentiment on the baby with the bathwater, I do see the sense in using societal pressure to ensure that those with counterproductive ideology and influence don’t thrive on public sentiment or the idea that silence is consent. There’s a needle to be threaded.
