    Current Paternity Leave Uptake: Despite existing benefits, only 17.13% of new fathers took leave in fiscal 2022, a slight increase from 7.48% in 2019.

    That’s the real problem: it’s not that paternity leave doesn’t pay enough, it’s that workers don’t feel empowered to take the time off. Or any time off for that matter.

      That might be the real problem in Japan, but it certainly is not the real problem in the US. In the US the real problem is there is no mandated parental leave.

          Nor do they feel empowered to find a job they are good at or want to do, improving quality, efficiency, productivity, etc. because the job they have “has insurance benefits”. Even if it’s pure misery.
