It doesn’t have to be most, it just has to be enough.

And even if it were all voters, the party would prefer to lose them all than change.

Okay but if enough people switch from Biden to Stein or West or Kennedy then it’ll just guarantee the vote is split between Biden and them and hand the presidency directly to Trump and we both know that’ll just make things worse.

What democrats do you think are actually switching to Kennedy? That guy is a lunatic way more aligned with the right than left.

Yeah Kennedy has less of a chance from pulling from Biden now. Whoever ends up on the green party ticket is still gonna be a problem for that though.

Those who aren’t paying attention and just recognize the Kennedy name. Those who know that he initially ran as Democrat and switched to independent.

Well, enough people don’t need to switch to anyone. Enough people just have to stay home. Of course it would be worse and I’m not saying otherwise.

It’s a reality, though. The party disregards it at our peril.

Or participate in primaries and local elections. Most of the problems come from how stacked the system already is.

Yes, exactly. Dems see the real threat as primaries for sure, and they just don’t have the infrastructure to control the nominations at the local level or even with state reps in redder states like they did with the 2016 or 2020 presidential primaries.

I dunno. They had the infrastructure to make sure Henry Cuellar beat Jessica Cisneros.

I should’ve specified, by state rep I meant in the state’s house of representatives, those can often have democrats that are more radical like the Tennessee Three (Go Gloria), and the NY State House DSA members.

They’re much more able to target progressives/socialists in the federal house, especially if they haven’t built up as much support from residents of the state before going federal like Gloria Johnson (or hopefully soon the other two members of the TN 3).

It’s that’s how you feel then that’s your choice. Republicans fully plan to attack the system entirely in their favor despite not being the popular party and the Democratic party is starting to recognize the need to appeal to younger voters. Just don’t abstain from voting entirely.

God almighty, the passive aggression is worse than the usual overt condescension.

the Democratic party is starting to recognize the need to appeal to younger voters.

                Based on what evidence?
