Hello guys, I have a condenser microphone mounted on a cheap mic arm. The microphone arm squeaks and vibrates when I move it around. The microphone is mounted directly on the arm without any shock mount.

My question is, can these vibrations, on top of me bumping the desk or the microphone arm, damage the microphone with time? I’m not talking about nothing too exagerrated, it’s more like accidental light/medium bumps. Thanks!

    Well…technically yes, BUT

The shock mount is mainly to avoid sounds from an unexpected bump, not to protect the mic from damage.

The amount of damage from normal bumping around is so minimal youd probably replace the mount before the mic. Possibly the desk too.
