I’ve got the Samsung Odyssey G65B 32". Upgraded from a 165Hz IPS AOC AG271QG. So far so good. It’s definitely much faster response time and it’s so smooth as long as I can maintain the FPS high. Though mainly the colors and contrast stand out the most. I was worried about QC issues but did not notice anything out of whack yet. The only annoying thing which I’ll probably never use is the built in Tizen OS to make it work more like a TV. I think that’s just unnecessary. I did not even bother to connect it to network.
Nice setup. Do you get eye strain sitting so close to such a large monitor?
For awhile now, I have been contemplating buying the LG 45" ultragear monitor with 240 Hz and 0.03 ms response time. But have been holding off since my current PC probably wouldn’t even be able to sustain 240 fps for most modern games.
I think once I upgrade next year, I’ll be able to justify a splurge.
Thanks! No eye strain at all. I never really had an issue with that and I’m spending majority of my time looking at the screen.
I’d say that 32" is about the limit for the screen size for my sitting distance and the fact that the monitor has such an aggressive curve makes the width more similar to a 27" flat panel. Except its way more immersive as the screen covers almost my entire field of view.
I actually experienced a VR moment twice when during a cutscene a camera was panning to the side and it tricked my brain into thinking that I’m actually turning. But only briefly.
240Hz is fun but it really depends on what you play. I see no reason to push graphically demanding games above 90FPS and for games where it matters I’m happy to drop settings and max out FPS.
