Parents who didn't grow up in the American system, and who may have moved to the U.S. in large part for their children's education, feel desperate and in-the-dark. Some shell out tens of thousands of dollars for consultants as early as junior high.
Considering the decreasing quality of college education and the increasing cost, I’d say people need to start learning quick that this isn’t the 1980’s. Going to Yale isn’t a golden ticket to being set in life and going to community college isn’t a deal breaker.
Hiring consultants for your elementary school kids for thousands of dollars? Jesus how is there a market for this? Sounds like an upper class problem to me, no one else has the money.

OTOH sounds like a market opportunity if you lack scruples. :)
And the skillet necessary to advise people on college education and tactics, I guess.
I encourage all my nieces and nephews to consider union trade work over college.
