I figured until we figure out an automatic option, a weekly thread is probably ok, especially since Lemmy does a great job at bringing threads back up to the top if they get comments.

DTLA and its surrounding neighborhoods. People always say that you can’t live here without a car, but I moved here from somewhere very rural, where the nearest grocery store was ten miles down a road with no sidewalks and barbed wire right up to the edge of the asphalt. I’ll happily bike 30-45 minutes across the city compared to that, haha

Oh awesome. I was casually considering moving to DTLA a few years ago, but I chickened out lol.

Have you ridden the Regional Connector yet??!

Currently live there now, and I love it. Some things to consider though,

        1. Most towers around here have restaurants, stores or coffee shops on the street level. Good for convenience, but in practice also very hard to keep roaches out. And they do spread to upper levels.

        2. You will need an emergency plan to get to the nearest urgent care that doesnt involve walking, transit, or ambulances (if you try to use ambulances for a cellulitis infection for example, they will tell you to stop wasting their time).

        3. you have a choice of two types of appartments. Interior and exterior facing. Interior is ALWAYS too dark, but they are quiter, warmer and cheaper. Exterior is lighter easier to cool when it get too warm and seems to have fewer roach issues
