    Why aren’t we taking connection more seriously?

    I can relate to a lot of what’s there, but the excerpt didn’t seem to answer this question. I agree with Plett that social media is a red herring, and just one of the latest in a series of scapegoats that go back generations.

    I suspect it’s just that connection doesn’t sell, in our world where everything must be commodified. When people feel connected, they’re content, and when people are content, they don’t buy things. Heck, when people feel connected, they can even end up sharing things instead of buying their own!
