As many people here right now I assume, I’m coming to Lemmy as a Reddit alternative. I’ve got my account created via lemmy.world and have a bunch of other communities that I was able to find just by browsing the Communities section found here. However, since there are potentially infinite instances and communities out there, how do you guys go about finding new ones that might be relevant to your interests? The list of communities only gets you so far, imo.
Lemmy being fundamentally different than Reddit will never be a one-for-one replacement for Reddit. Things aren’t settled on most Lemmy instances. New instances will be started and instances will go offline. There will never be a good answer to how to find a community. It’s likely that there were and still are communities on Reddit that you don’t know about but would appreciate.
All that said, the best answer right now is to use the various search tools.
