People have actually said this to me in full seriousness. Preemptive revenge killing against hypothetical wild pig attacks is apparently self defense, so that’s why they eat pork from real captive factory farm pigs. It is such odd… “logic”, clearly working backwards from the point they want to arrive at.

Like srsly, it was something like a month ago on this very platform.

Definitely not a valid point against what I’m assuming is veganism, or even a coherent intelligent thing to say, but I want to make sure we are all on the same page that wild boar are insanely dangerous and will kill you dead.

I’m not a vegan but I admire the commitment and resolve of those who are, just want to spread the word about the dangers of wild boar after I watched a steel tipped arrow bounce off of one while on the first and only time one of my country ass friends talked me into accompanying them while they hunted.

Oh absolutely, this is a serious problem for some! I’ve read enough boar attack stories to know they are a legitimate threat. Cougar and wolf attacks are more common in my area, albeit rare overall. But all three animals are all very different than dogs, cats and pigs. Common ancestors sure, but absolutely very different today.

Of course every human has the right to defend themslevss from animal attack. That’s just a very different equation than buying bacon at the super market while ignoring the suffering of a pig that never left it’s factory farm.

Wild pigs don’t exist though. They’re invasive feral pigs. And eating them is the right thing to do after killing them. And they need to be killed for ecological reasons.
