Nope. That’s just a hateful straight man. They are way more common than the people who are secretly gay. Some people just want us dead. I’ve seen so much of it and I am so, so tired.

I know there are many hateful straight men but when I hear someone say something so strongly and dramatically I always wonder.

I guess maybe it’s easier for me to try and view him as a tragic story of internalized homophobia than to believe there’s really that much needless hate out there. But I guess I shouldn’t speculate.

It bugs me a little personally because everytime this line is used it’s just pushing the victimization of gay people back onto gay people and saying that it’s just the community bashing itself. The responsibility and guilt is pushed. Gay people do not make up that large a percentage of the public for every homophobe to be gay. I’m not saying that’s what your consciously doing or anything but it’s just how it feels with how pervasive that line is in general pop culture.

I’m sorry, it was definitely not conscious or intended. I’ve never really thought about it from that angle and I appreciate the perspective. I guess I hadn’t considered someone so deeply closeted and in denial as being part of “the community”. I’ll keep this in mind when the thought occurs to me in the future.

Oh I never thought it was intentional. Don’t worry. Just how a lot of the community feels lately about it and figured I’d share <3
