Facebook hasn’t “literally [backed out] of Australia”, the article covers that. You may not appreciate the condescension but I mean, you’re doubling down now on a false premise and refusing to acknowledge the actual specifics of the situation, I’m not sure what you expect when you’re seemingly knowingly spreading misinformation.

Facebook blocked news on their platform in Australia. Everybody in this sub knows it’s in regards to news if you’re implying I’m claiming that their entire service was unavailable. This is like the smallest possible of hairs to split.

that’s not what I’m implying at all, you’re very good at trolling in terms of eliciting a response. for the lazy, from the article (emphasis mine):

Canada is following the lead of Australia, which passed similar legislation in 2021. Meta temporarily blocked Australians from sharing news stories on Facebook, but **the ban was lifted when it reached a deal with the government. **

you apparently know that facebook isn’t currently blocking news in Aus as per your other comment regarding “immendments”, so I’m done feeding the trolls

Yes, I totally agree! As you cited, Facebook blocked news on their platform in Aus (as I phrased it, backed out) after their legislation was passed. And now it’s possible that they do the same in Canada. I don’t understand why you’re hounding me and accusing me of spreading misinformation. Toxic.

I genuinely think I’m being trolled here at this point so I’m going to stop engaging/replying to comments. Have a nice day.
