It sounds like a good feature to assign a certain key to an option in GRUB. Maybe GRUB has this feature already, it has been a while since I’ve looked into it’s config options.
No need for a dedicated key in the physical keyboard tho, just let the user choose, Alt or Space are good options.
How about a key for faster choosing GNU+Linux in GRUB/rEFInd/libreboot? :)

How many people has the context key on their keyboard? Or scroll lock? Or F6-F9 and F11?
Plenty of other options out there. Even keyboard-centric people rarely use those keys unless they have an app that explicitly uses it.
