new findings reveal that areas of the United States and Europe are nearing a tipping point where they could face a disastrous loss of snow for decades to come.
“Once you pass this threshold, which we refer to as the snow loss cliff … with even modest amounts of warming you can get these really accelerating losses,” Gottlieb said.

We’re there already, at least in Italy.
During the summer months, most of our rivers dry up almost completely and lots of our territories face severe drought. It’s a problem for the agriculture, for the local fauna, and for the citizens as well, and it has happened for a few years consecutively, but nobody cares.
Territories that were always covered in a thick layer of snow during winter, now are green at New Year’s. Glaciers melt and almost disappear. I don’t know what will be of this country a few years from now.
