The West Bank settlers who are old enough yes, but many of the last 30 years have lived in a reality where they are “reclaiming” “historic” Israel by doing this. And they view it through a righteous lens, which is reinforced explicitly by religious Zionism as well. So they are mean or cruel to Palestinians, who they view as “squatters”.

Despite the lack of historical basis for any of this. The propaganda has gone deep, and by being infused with the official state religion, you wind up being unable to challenge any of it without yourself being labeled as self-hating or anti-semetic. It’s a gordian knot of persecution that the deeply conservative Israeli Zionist have intentionally made.

It has so far been so effective that it has taken sustained war crimes and tragedy for over 3 months with live video evidence to even begin to chip away at in Jewish communities that maybe the Israeli Government and the faith shouldn’t be talked about as the same thing.

You say “but” as if you’re disagreeing with the parent commenter, but you’re talking about the same thing.

His two sentences weren’t drawing a distinction between “settlers” and some other group attacking Palestinians; he was saying that the settlers are the ones attacking Palestinians.
