I have been thinking which of the two should i use. If i understand fully i can still browse lemmy instances on kbin. And i can even check out mastodon users on it.

If this is the case, why would anyone choose lemmy instead of kbin? I assume there must be another aspects i don’t know of?

    I went with Lemmy because:

    • Rust is the faster and more modern language.
    • Lemmy had more instances when I joined - I was concerned about spreading the load over multiple instances
    • It was much easier to set up and maintain a new instance via an Ansible script
    • The structure, look and feel and language felt more comfortable

    At this point, I’d also include how much more mature the Lemmy codebase is, for example that the api is fully accessible.

    There’s absolutely nothing wrong with Kbin. You choose whatever works for you and we can all enjoy the Fediverse together.
