The House Homeland Security Committee is moving forward with two articles of impeachment. The White House has called the GOP effort “unconstitutional.”

House Republicans took a significant step forward Sunday in their effort to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas by formalizing their allegations ahead of a committee vote.

Republicans allege in the first impeachment article that Mayorkas displayed a “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law,” while the second article argues that he breached public trust by having “knowingly made false statements, and knowingly obstructed lawful oversight of the Department of Homeland Security.”

The Department of Homeland Security responded Sunday with a memo saying Republicans “undermined efforts to achieve bipartisan solutions and ignored the facts, legal scholars and experts, and even the Constitution itself in their quest to baselessly impeach Secretary Mayorkas.”

So they’re trying to distract from their Hunter fuck up, by creating a bigger fuck up?

Possibly, but this could also easily be, “See? Everyone gets impeached. Not just our guy twice!”

Sure it’ll go literally nowhere (the Senate will not convict even if the house actually does impeach him), but now the talking heads will have a response when people call Trump the twice impeached loser from Washington.

That’s definitely what they’re going to try to play at. I suspect it’s going to get too humiliating for them fairly quickly.

That and the likelihood they will kill the border deal to appeas the orange turd man and deny Biden any victories as well as confirming themselves as the true do nothing party they always have been. Not that any of their base will notice or care.
