It’s the inverse actually, Imran Khan was ousted by the army with support from the USA because he wasn’t following their foreign policy and giving them a hard time.
It was the third ruling against Khan this week and comes ahead of national elections on Thursday that he is barred from contesting.
These are all phony charges so they can disqualify him from elections and kill his party for good.
Pretty sad tbh considering he actually had pretty widespread support for his welfare policies and not being another scam of a PM.
Well that’s not totally true either, Khan was clearly selling and trading state secrets, which is probably why the US participated in his ouster, because those secrets may have pertained to US operational security of which Pakistan is a very valuable regional partner for. Because let’s be real, the US has treated Pakistan as a regional partner on par with how we treat the Saudis, and when you don’t uphold your side of the bargain for our support then we absolutely have a vested interest in the country going with someone not trading state secrets for money or influence, either way that’s also the clear sign of someone participating in corruption and not honoring agreements and oaths.
Also every populist says they’re going to do this or that for welfare policies too, that doesn’t mean they have the capability of providing that support or the backing to carry out that support, so in itself that statement doesn’t mean much to me, actions are what’s important, and Pakistan is hurting for some real action to help alleviate the issues they’re facing.
Nope. He was accused of selling state gifts from MBS. He was convicted in a nonpublic trial for this. No evidence has been made public.
He was also convicted for leaking (not selling) a cable that showed the US collaborated with the Pakistani military to have him removed from office. Pakistan has not been able to show that leaking the cable compromised their message encryption which is what they convicted him for. The reason the US wanted him removed was that he didn’t cut off diplomatic ties with Russia.
