House Republicans are desperately trying to defend Donald Trump from claims of insurrection.

You know, I’ve been the victim of federal crimes,” added Gaetz, who is currently under investigation by the House Ethics Committee for allegedly paying $900 to a sex trafficker for sex with a minor. “If we’re the purported victim, in Congress, and we’re saying this was not an insurrection, I think that would hold a great deal of weight.”

It sounds like he’s saying he’s a victim for that, but I guess he means since he was part of the government being overthrown?

Which is dumb logic considering his party was losing power, but better than what I initially thought.

I just went back and edited my comment.

The quote cuts some out. But article has the video of the full comment.

He’s saying he’s a victim of his own party attempting an insurrection to keep power, because he was already in the government I guess.

Still ridiculous, but not as much

Yeah, that’s it, just have the people who wanted the insurrection to succeed say it wasn’t an insurrection.

Congress wasn’t the victim. The American people, the states, and the Constitution itself were victims.

We all have a Constitutional right to a peaceful certification on January 6 and a peaceful transfer of power on January 20.
