I believe they have an animated movie coming out next year?

    Didn’t know that.

    According to this article. https://www.polygon.com/24075133/avatar-last-airbender-animated-sequel-creators-netflix-live-action

The new Avatar will actually be an animated, theatrically released film series, and will be a direct sequel to Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender. The films will follow Aang, Sokka, Katara, and the rest of Avatar gang as they move through the adult world, filling in the gaps of what happened between The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.

While we don’t know many details about this movie trilogy just yet, we do know the first installment is set for release on Oct. 10, 2025.

Nice to see Nickelodeon investing in the series.

It’ll be great to have more stories from that universe, but why that storyline? There just isn’t a way to make it compelling. We already know that all of the characters live until old age and the only one who dies is Aang, but not because of any conflicts.

At best they will be able to do a coming of (adult) age drama, but coming of age stories were already well covered by both of the series.

In a universe that has literally hundreds of super heroes, most of which have legends attached to them, why not tell some of those stories?

Kinda the exact same issue with all of the star wars content right now. Why do we need an ashoka, bobba fett, Obi-Wan TV show. I think it’s a symptom of milking a franchise/being afraid or unable to expand in other directions.
