Okay, I know it isn’t metal. It is, however hard blues rock, and I think that it’s close enough that maybe users here would still listen to this kind of thing alongside metal.

In any case, it’s fucking brilliant.

That’s fucking awesome. I love hearing well known not-blues artists doing blues. Maybe because I love blues. But also it is so interesting to see how these talented people kick ass in other musical genres.

True that! I came into the blues from rock myself. Hearing about all the blues greats that influenced so many bands and artists, I eventually had to start digging. Robert Johnson was my first exposure to blues music, and going back and forth from his stuff to people that neatly worship him from rock was an awesome lesson.

Now, like you said, it’s always a joy to hear someone go back and straight up cover the greats like that. You get to hear the artist in a new way, in both directions :)

For sure. Robert Johnson is a heck of a good starting point! Now that you mention it, I need to listen to some more pre-electric blues. There were some real giants in those days.

Oddly enough, I came into classic rock (Led Zeppelin et. al.) from blues. The new wave / pop synth tunes I listened to in my teen years were pretty far removed from the roots of rock so the 60s and 70s rockers sounded like “icky old stuff” to kid me but I came around eventually lol.
